Sunday soak
Hello Beloveds! Hope this Sunday finds you well. Or Monday for the Australian folks. I’ve been meditating on love and how we show up for one another. In the midst of reading Richard Powers’ BEWILDERMENT, I am reminded once again of our interconnectedness. Of course boundaries are important. And so is loving fiercely with tenderness. I came across this short but powerful poem:
Love Comes Quietly
Robert Creeley - 1926-2005
Love comes quietly,
finally, drops
about me, on me,
in the old ways.
What did I know
thinking myself
able to go
alone all the way. I’m delighting in this poem because I used to think I had to go at everything alone. Even while in a relationship. I used to be kind of in an existential cloud playing it safe. My goal now is to expand my heart. Still learning how to do that exactly. Vulnerability is key. I want to live with an open heart. How do you stay open? I want to encourage others to show up for themselves. Many of you are artists, teachers, poets, social workers. You’ve built your life around serving others. I honor that about you. And what about how you love yourself? What turtle steps do you take to embrace your being? What brings you wonder and joy? It’s time to move beyond my identity as survivor and into a life of infinite possibilities for growth and awe, whimsy and play. Also, it’s okay to lean on others. To weep if necessary. I know the news cycle can be daunting. I understand you want to show up for this fragile democracy. You do you. Remember, however, to rest. I even have my favorite purple blanket. As we enter this season of less light, how will you illuminate your own being? What works for you? Creativity is my jam. Still making watercolor poetry postcards for friends and expanding into dog sketches for others. I set an intention every Sunday for the week ahead and am meditating more often. I’m thankful I’m in a region without the extreme winters. Whew. Exhale. Share below how you practice self-love. ((( Group Hug))) Amy
