The Reckoning

As the days grow shorter,

I release her at the sea

under the luminous glow of

a full moon,

We’ve traveled almost three years,

a dance of the earth spinning round the sun,

her lover’s photo

Like a beacon of glittery

effervescent joy

Sings between

the dark soil

and constellations swimming

like a crown above her head,

Over ten years clean

of the poison of addiction,

Her skin glows,

Her voice stronger now

sings liberation,

There is no need to cling

for fear of losing,

We are all interconnected— the moon, the sun,

the earth, our souls

never truly die

but transform into

an ether of divine love

almost gaseous like the oxygen

that fills us with first breath,

Be free

dear one,

If it is to be us together,

gravity and prayer

will make it so,

For now know

You are always nearby

In a chamber of my heart

with an understanding

All is well.

There is no original sin,

no reckoning.
